Missing in action

It’s unusual for me to complain about the silence of others, but I find myself with two such gripes these days.

The Johnson cabal is possibly the most incompetent government the UK has ever had, and corrupt to boot. But if nobody says so then nobody hears so. There was once a man called Starmer who occasionally dropped some excellent forensic questions. He might have been a lawyer, but there were never enough, and he seems to have disappeared.

Johnson’s gambled and lost (probably 50 thousand lives) every time but the last. I appreciated the Tory insider’s quote “When you’ve got D-Day, no-one remembers Norway”. Since nobody’s holding him up vaccines will be his legacy.

Here in the future People’s Republic of Scotland there’s a not much more competent government, though when you’re being measured against the Westminster bunch it’s not hard to wear a halo. Especially if you’ve no competition. The SNP will sweep the boards in May, not because Scots are red-toothed secessionists, but because they’re not aware of a choice.

My mother complains daily about the persistent whining of Sinn Fein in Ireland, but I have to say I’m missing an opposition.
